I am going to share with you the Peace Prayer of St Francis of Assisi. Today, I found that I needed to draw on the inner peace that God promises us if we truly trust in Him. Between fallen trees, no power and a chain saw and generator that just wanted to be ornery, I found my patience running thin. I had to check myself and remember at least I have a chain saw, even though the chain would fall off after every cut, and at least I had a generator, even though it refused to start. Through shear persistence and almost swearing, (ok a little bit), I have cleared our lane and now am able to send an email under pulsating lights. It is these little trials in life that make us stop and thank God for every little thing, running water, hot showers and a winter that has forced us to slow down and appreciate what is important, each other, bound in community. Check on your neighbors today and make sure they are safe and warm, cherish the day and dream of the time when Spring will dawn, sit down and enjoy a good book, perhaps the best book, the Bible.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Prayers for those without power, that it will be restored soon.
Prayers for those suffering from depression.
Prayers for those who are grieving.
Pray for peace to enter your life and make a steadfast home.
