Prayer Devotion October 15, 2014

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy,

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God."   Matthew 5:3-9

On this rainy day you may be in need of a blessing.  Be reminded that Jesus is full of blessings and is eager to extend a hand of care to you.  To be blessed is to experience the grace, healing, forgiveness, hope, or happiness of the Lord.  Jesus offers his blessings which overcome the dreariness, grief, or restlessness of the day.  Today consider the dry spots in your heart, and invite Jesus to rain down a blessing.  The challenge, sorrow, or relationship strain you are currently experiencing could be an opportunity for God to bring new life into your journey.  Jesus says, "ask in my name."   Ask for a blessing and invite God's refreshing grace to bring you a cleansed perspective, or fresh courage to live in His promises in spite of the storm.

Please hold in your prayers today:

Those who are undergoing surgery and treatment for cancer and the families who support them.

All who had surgery this week.

Those who are awaiting test results and seeking courage in the midst of health challenges.

"Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine

Oh what a foretaste of Glory divine!"
