About Hope Preschool
Hope Community Preschool and Family Ministries
Our Mission: Hope Community Preschool strives to give preschool students the foundation to learn mentally, physically, emotionally and socially, through age appropriate lessons and experiences in a loving and caring Christian environment. Hope Family Ministries enhances the preschool experience by offering extended hours and enriching experiences for body, mind, and soul.
Our Philosophy: We strive to offer programs which can be uniquely pieced together by each family to meet their needs. One family may choose a single Tuesday /Thursday preschool class to introduce their child to the school environment. Another may need a longer span of activities for their child and may choose to begin with a “Let's Play" fitness program, then Lunch Bunch, followed by an afternoon preschool class. At Hope, you self-design your program to meet your family’s needs.
About Our School
Our Facility: The state of the art facility opened it's doors in the fall of 2010. Our classrooms provide “washable” spaces for painting, craft projects, experiments with water and sand, and “soft” spaces for reading, circle time, music, and enriching lessons. The preschool has an outdoor fenced in playground as well as a large indoor multipurpose space for games and fun. We have the capacity for 155 children between both of our locations and we rotate various classes throughout the two classrooms to include 2-day, 3-day and 5-day programs.
In the fall of 2015, we added an additional preschool location at New Market United Methodist Church located in New Market, Maryland. This location offers very similar features of our current location on Baltimore Road and has the capacity for 45 children.
Your Child’s Safety: The building is safeguarded by secured entry during preschool hours. The teachers are CPR and First Aid certified and are screened through a background check and sign a covenant for acceptable behavior. The classrooms and playground are also recorded by video surveillance to ensure proper instruction and safety of students. Children are signed into their programs by parents or caregivers.
Our Teachers and Curriculum: Most of our teachers hold four year degrees in Early Childhood Education. They have years of experience designing curriculum and leading preschool programs. Our curriculum follows the highest level of MSDE standards for Kindergarten readiness. Our teachers are familiar with and utilize the Common Core Standards as they plan their lessons for their classes. At the same time, Hope provides a well-rounded curriculum which combines development of academic skills with opportunities for social, creative, and physical development.
Faith Development: Hope offers two chapel services each month. These services are shared by our Lead Pastors. They are trained educators who uses multi-sensory teaching techniques which engage mind, body, and spirit. While their lessons are deeply rooted in the Christian faith, they have knowledge and appreciation for the diverse faiths of our community and fosters understanding and compassion in the lives of our children. In addition to attending chapel, teachers are encouraged to integrate faith lessons into their classroom teaching.
“Let's Play" Fitness Program: “Let's Play " is an opportunity for children to develop healthy habits for a lifetime. Physical activity includes games, dance, balance, and age-appropriate introduction to multiple sports. Movement is complimented by simple lessons on healthy eating and fitness. This can be taken independently or in conjunction with a preschool class and lunch bunch to extend your child’s day.
